I wonder If it was Eastbourne and soon after started charging to watch their beachside Airshow?
Certainly Brighton & Hove direction, so yeah, probably. But I thought Eastborne bought in doubled up deckchairs for courting couples (like kissing chairs) that they soon stopped, Not sure about the airshow. i'm a Bournemouth man myself.

I don't read newspapers, haven't for decades. They are a dying industry and their opinions and editorials belong in the same category.

I am sure that some airlines do charge obese people for an extra seat and some do have extra large seats If a very obese person knows they cannot sit in a single seat without causing considerable discomfort to the person sitting beside them I think it would only be common curtesy for them to pay for an extra seat. I certainly would not be very happy about a really obese person taking up their seat and half of mine that I had paid for especially on a long haul journey

Last flight I was on November 2015, the guy next to me was rather large, not long after take off, the flight manager asked him if he would like to move to a whole row of 3 himself, thank god he said yes, I was in severe pain, nausea and pinned to side of plane.
The worse a full bus only one seat left next to me, omd he was about 6ft 7 and easily 20+ stone, he was sweating buckets, stunk like a wet dog, and stuffed his face snacks and drinks balanced on his belly. His mum and dad were also on the bus all I can say is enablers
By the way I admit to being large but *** there is a line you just should not cross,

Here's another ex-politician and ex-Strictly star saying ridiculous things about obesity and diabetes. Edwina Currie thinks a fabulous looking size 14 swimwear model is obese, unhealthy and doing a lot of damage to her pancreas.

Sorry it's one of those news pages with lots of adverts:

I take your point, but on rare occasions, there are very real reasons for severe obesity. Life can be harsh enough for these people, without judgement from others.
I do agree about the airplane/bus seats though.

The REAL issue is not so much their size but their forgetfullness in NOT telling the airline prior to travel. THAT is the downside of online bookings because you don't present to staff / travel agents beforehand when ticketing your flight.

It's only when you front up at checkin that alarm bells start to sound with seating patterns and if it's a full plane, then you have a problem. Fact of life.

That's when C/I agents come into their own and seat a child beside the larger passenger so both can travel in some comfort.
