Hi

I have just had my annual blood test for my hba1c etc, type 1 diabetic for a few years, have had a note to see the doctor regarding abnormal liver results? I don't drink heavily and I'm not at all ill, feeling a bit concerned and wondered if anyone can shed any light or experience? Doctor is calling me tomorrow and if I need to see him I will but I am just anxious.

Hba1c was 7.6mmol.

Thanks.....

Depends what is not within "normal" parameters.

GGT levels can be pushed up by drinking as can Bilirubin levels. They can also be pushed up by other factors like stones and narrowing of the blood vessels in the liver. Injections of any medications can also affect them. (Insulin?)

My Bilirubin levels are always around 40 or even more. The doc. says it is "Gilberts Syndrome" as ALT and AST are normal.

AST and ALT are some more liver tests they do!

So you need a degree in chemistry to understand it all, my doc. openly admits that he takes advice from the lab on understanding
what is going on.

I've been called in about abnormal liver function before. Retested and it was fine. It could just be a one off reading, so try not to worry until you know what you're dealing with. Let us know how you get on.

Thank you for your responses....I am still waiting to hear from the doctor!! Will update as soon as I know anything, thanks again!
