Anomalous Blood readings

Hi There

I don't understand my blood readings.

This is not a one off occurrence and has happened over three different blood testing devices.

For instance this morning. Took a blood reading from my little finger on the left hand .... 12.5. Thinking it was a bit high, I immediately took a reading from little finger right hand ... 10.3.

Hands had been well washed beforehand.

This is far from the first time, as I have said.

Is there an explanation.

Thanks

Russell

The main explanation is that meters are not 100% accurate.
As accuracy is represented as a percentage, higher numbers in double digits are going to differ more.

Hi Russell,

From what I know. Blood flow, time lag (possibly upto 20 minutes prior to your current BG?) & the meter possibly acceptable manufacturer's tolerance being out by anything upto 15%??
I saw some lecture ages ago with a calibrated meter test from different sides of the body? So the varient in reading don't surprise me.
I normally calibrate (or check calibration) my sensor interpretation from the same side..
