Try rolling a hand towel and pushing it between the edge of yor pillow and the pillow case. It will support your tender neck more when you lay down. Also two drops of lavender oil in a half palm sized blob of moisturiser, will help aching muscles unlock without reacting with you painkillers ... Just don't use if you're pregnant.
Finally, Aloe Vera as a drink tastes horrid but can make a big difference to inflammation, including nerve pain. The purer the hell the better, so be wary if there's lots of bits in it. It's helped my husbands sciatica loads.
