Hi guys,

My name is Rick and am a Type 2 diabetic having had Diabetes for just over 15yrs.

I was diagnosed back in my early 20's after being super-morbidly obese (at my biggest I was 32st) - I underwent a gastric bypass operation in November 2008 and am now just over 13st. But my diabetes is now crazily out of control and am now back on Levemir insulin as well as Sitagliptin but it is not controlling it since my BG is, on average, in the early 20's.

I feel awfully unwell with the classic symptoms: lethargy, thirst, headaches etc. I have just got over oral thrush and now have a Wicklow on my finger which I am sure is diabetic related.

Rick.

Well done on the weight issues and welcome!

Whether or not the whitlow is caused by diabetes, it will be more difficult to heal with high blood sugar. Do you have a plan to lower it? There's plenty of ideas on here and ways to do it at least to some degree without upping the meds for the moment. Your GP etc will have an opinion if you go!! Have a look round and ask specific questions which someone more knowledgeable than me will answer!
