Type of diabetes
LADA
Hi all, I have type 2 Diabetes recently prescribed Metformin, 500mg this week and double up next week. I am absolutely freezin, my hands and feet are like ice blocks and I am wearing wooly gloves. It is cold up here in North Scotland, but I also feel like I am getting flu, I felt like that on day 1 of Metformin had a fewy days when it was fine and now it is back. has anyone else had this and how long does it last?

I have Lupus, Fibromyalgia and just to be greedy, Sjorgens. I had no symptoms of Diabetes, well I say that, I had ended up in A&E a few times with banging chest and numb lips, feeling faint etc Which now that I have a meter can say that my levels went down to 1.2 a few times, largely through not eating and also carb dumping. I now take milk or ornage juice when I feel it coming on and all is under control.

The Metformin side effects are pretty scary and I don't want to scare myself off them. So, did anyone else get this and did it go, if so how long did it last.

Thanks, now to browse and get better educated.

Many people mention the cold hands and feet. also the met side affect - runny tummy very common but goes away. If not, don't persevere, ask the doc for the slow release version, many people get on with that much better.

I seriously thought I'd had no symptoms until about 6 weeks into low carbing I realised my hands weren't hurting in the morning - I felt like I had to flex and bend them into working each morning - thought i was getting arthritis, now realise it was a side effect of the DB. No issues now at all.
