Hi all
I'm looking for opinions and maybe a bit of advice.
I have had gestational diabetes in all 3 of my pregnancies, the last 2 I needed insulin.
My youngest was born nearly 2 years ago but just recently I have been having symptoms of hypos, you all know what they are.
I know there is an increased chance of me developing diabetes because I have had gestational diabetes, so I guess what I am really asking is am I being crazy or do we think I should see my doctor?
And would you mind letting me know how you feel when having a hyper, before during and after please.

Hypo isn't a symptom of diabetes. Diabetes is a condition of high blood sugar, not low.

The symptoms of a hyper are excessive thirst, excessive urination, excessive hunger, brain fog - I have difficulty concentrating or doing anything complicated when high.

Do you have access to a test kit to check your blood sugar when you are having these symptoms?

Ladies who have had GD should receive long term follow up with OGTT or hba1c at least every 3 years - http://bestpractice.bmj.com/best-practice/monograph/665/follow-up/recommendations.html . So if you are now 2 years from any follow up and you have concerns it deems perfectly reasonable to seek investigation to exclude diabetes from your GP.

so even though I have symptoms of a hypo it doesn't necessarily mean diabetes.
I haven't had any of the red flag diabetes symptoms which is why I was confused.
I do have a test kit but it's 2 years old and all the strips are out of date

Can you buy some strips just to see what readings you get? Say a few fasting readings and a few when you feel odd?

If you have concerns for your health it is always wise to consult your doctor. If you have diabetes or not your symptoms can only be investigated by your doctor or other medical practician.
