anti-VEGF or PRP?

Will I regret having PRP instead of anti-VEGF? Is anti-VEGF worth it as it's an ongoing treatment? Is it lifelong?

Hi,

Which eye condition have you be diagnosed with?
I’ve had anti-VEGF but my experince wouldn’t be pertinent if your options were for something else.
 
Good question @Trishhh. Assuming some form of retinopathy with abnormal blood vessel growth, both treatments may work depending on the patient's history and circumstances. Using one treatment doesn't necessarily preclude switching to the other but you'll have to discuss with the doc.

Anti-VEGF rolled in as a new gold standard but hasn't always lived up to its billing. I had ten (painful) injections with Eylea and no change whatsoever in my scans or vision. Now I'm on Vabysmo, which is polypharmacological (two drug targets which was once called unspecific :p ) but still no change.

Curious,, after the Eylea debacle I asked my hospital if laser ablation was still a thing and heard that they didn't use lasers any more. How different NHS Trusts work is a mystery but money is key I guess.
 
If you'd had a choice at the beginning of treatment, which one would you have preferred and why? Just curious.
 
Interestingly,

I’ve had Lucentis then they tried Eylea for macula edema. Gone back for checks & scans since the last jab 6 or 7 years ago?
Worked a treat, so far…
