What's people experience of both, my sugars have gone from too control in the words of my diabetic nurse at the hospital(4-5) to 9.7 today and a very bad night time hypo last night. I'm seeing my nurse this week but with me being asthmatic as well and taking my blue inhaler lots what I'm asking is can I expect it(blood sugar)to keep rising?

I have also been on steroids, antibiotics and my blue inhaler, my sugars went from normal range, 4 - 7, up to as high as 15.2. I spoke to a doctor at my surgery and she said it was likely due to the meds and not to worry until I finish the course of antibiotics and steroids. I have left a message for my diabetic dietitian to see what she thinks. It could be the heat. If it doesn't settle over the weekend , I will have to contact NHS direct. I don't know what else to do. I hope someone can help. I ave been on a longer course of antibiotics before with no change.

Infections (or any sort of trauma/stress to the body) can make glucose levels rise; presumably, that's why you are taking an antibiotic. As they begin to work your levels should hopefully get back to normal.

As above but steroids also can raise glucose levels quite dramatically because they increase insulin resistance. I think that it's a good idea to see someone about it .There's some advice here.

Hope you both get back to normal soon.

Thanks Phoenix, I am going to see how things are in the morning. I worked so hard to get them under control, I was diagnosed type 2 sept 2012, I just feel that I'm back where I started.[UNAMUSED FACE]
