Hi everyone, just started a course of amoxicillin into my 3rd day now and bloods have risen abit for no reason, do I put it down to the penicillin? Also do I adjust ratio accordingly?

I took a week long course of Flucloxacillin a few weeks ago. Because I now have freestyle libre I could see what was going on, and it was slightly weird. Because antibiotics kill off some of your gut bacteria I think they slow down digestion. So it changes the amount of time it takes for the food to spike, after eating it. Which can effect blood sugar, and give the impression of high blood sugar.

You might want to change the timing of your insulin.

There may be two things which are impacting your BG: the amoxycillin and the illness for which you are taking it may be stressing your body to release extra glucose.
In this situation, I would make little or no adjustment to my bolus ratio but I may temporarily increase my basal insulin.
I would also test and correct more often during the day.
