Hi all, having just joined this site im sure it will be very helpful to me. I was diagnosed T2 a year ago. I take pills to control it, one 2mg glimepiride - three 500mg metformin a day. My question is does anyone else think that glimepiride contributes to weight gain. I used to only take metformin when first diagnosed and i lost 3 1/2 stone, as soon as i started taking glimepiride i started to put it all back on. Sorry to make this long winded but any advice would be much appreciated.

It does!
there are not many diabetic medications that don't. Metformin, Byetta, Victoza, are the main ones.
Weight gain can make control more difficult.
I found I got back my control, when I reduced my carbs and went to Metformin only.
.
Still BG control, is paramount. what numbers are you getting and what's your diet like?
