Hi
Iv not posted for a while kinda need some help. Last year I suffered from severe depression and was of work for 6 months. I did a phase back over 6 weeks and I’m on the mend now. I’m struggling at the moment iv gained 2 Stone and am eating all the wrong things and I know I shouldn’t but I can’t seem to get back on track. I wake up and am so positive and start eating all the wrong things again. I know I can do it I did it before but what do you do when your not in the right frame of mind. I really need some inspiration xx

You have already taken the first step by recognising what you need to do. Start today, get back on the waggon and start ditching those carbs again. Do it bit by bit so you are not overwhelmed and remember that it is a marathon not a sprint. Are you testing your bg regularly? Taking your meds? If you arn't then start again today.
We are all in the same boat so we know how hard it can be at times. Best wishes.

Hey Cath, my heart is with you. I have suffered from hormonal depression so I can understand. How about making one small step, prepare everything you need for a healthy breakfast the night before, get all the cutlery, crockery, ingredients of choice etc. Out on the side. Get rid of any junk in the house ( if possible) this good start might help you set a pattern for the day. Good luck sweetie.

Hi Cath

I was newly diagnosed with T2 in February, and I too was eating all wrong things which prior to diagnosis I ate to to control my weight,

But I lurked for a while and took the advice given in the forums.

So, I also bought myself a meter to monitor my BG levels and the the effects which food groups had on my BG levels.

I am still adjusting my diet to suit my particular needs, and recommend the LCHF method, but slowly adjust, and personalise it to your needs.

While I am only still a beginner in the world of T2, I would recommend you buying a meter and self test your levels, you will be surprised the motivation this gives you, especially knowing that food A sends BG high, but food B has minimal effect.

Even the odd wrong choices made are not a disaster as you know what to avoid or cut down on next time, and indeed they are part of the learning curve and I am definitely still learning and will no doubt will be for many years

Wishing you all the best

Take it moment by moment. If you are strongest in the morning, focus on mornings. Build from there. One thing you must never do is beat yourself up. We all struggle. You have had success before, you can do it again.
A strategy I used when I found myself struggling with weight regain and High Carb food choices, due to a stressful episode in my life, where I ate anyhow to numb my awareness of the whole catastrophe, was to separate the Diabetes control from the weight control.
I first focused on BG control, which meant eating LCHF. When you hear HF, I mean HF, this eased me back to normal BG readings. Though I did not lose weight then (I was eating only extremely fatty meat and green leafy veg)it helped me gain some needed positivity and feeling of control when BG was in check. Getting my BG in check was a game changer, I knew then I could take on the weight. I dialled back the HF and the weight flew off.
