Hi Everyone,

Not posted on here very much but I know there is a wealth of knowledge out there so I wondered if any of you have any bright ideas.

My other half has been Type 1 for 20 plus years. He is under the dietician at the moment looking into the possibility of the pump as the blood sugar levels are not good, he has peeks of high bloods (18, 19, 20 etc) throughout most days. The dietician has just recently increased his background to twice a day and it seems to be improving.

The issue is, he has no energy, his legs feel like jelly, and he has a pain in his chest which the hospital suspected might be gallstones, he had an ultrasound and numerous other tests and nothing has showed up. He is still in pain and has been back to the GP twice who has now advised that if the pain worsens go to A&E. This has been happening for over a week now and he spent 3 days in hospital last week !

I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems ? If he may be feeling rough because of bloods running too high ? Don't know who to contact for advice ? Or just sit and wait for it to get better ? Any ideas would be helpful ?

Thanks :)

I'd try to get a second opinion if I was you, he shouldn't be left in pain like that. If they don't know the cause the GP should be sending him for more tests/investigations until they find out what it is. Both my parents and my brother have had their gallbladders taken out and I'm pretty sure none of the pain was in their chest so this seems odd to me too.

Hope you get him sorted soon

If he may be feeling rough because of bloods running too high ?

Could well be, but it's impossible to say for sure if the high bg levels are the cause of all your husbands symptoms, has he been advised on correcting his bg levels and checking for ketones?

Don't know who to contact for advice ?

Get in touch with his hospital diabetes clinic and ask for him to be seen asap, he should also go back to his Dr's and say that his condition is no better and wants a hospital referral (even to another hospital for a second opinion).

Or just sit and wait for it to get better ?

Definitely don't wait.
