Does anyone else suffer cystitis/thrush infections. I have been having these constantly, endured all sorts of painful tests and all along it was probably my undiagnosed diabetes. Has anyone had this problem? I did not even think the two could be connected, shows how niave i am.

Only found out 12 days ago, so am still a little shell-shocked. I am still waiting for a follow up from my GP Surgery and must admit despite the urgency in the beggining, they are dragging their feet.

A bit dissappointed because i could not get on the new members forum, so decided to make one of my own.

Hopefully i will connect with a few other members also.

UTI is common in diabetes. all that sugar in the urine encourages bacterial growth.
Why didn't those medical idiots check?
I would have and I'm a mere scientist. All it would take would be a simple urine dip.
I had a short mild attack of cycstitis a few weeks ago. It's not something that happens to me regularly. Over the counter medicine fixed it in a couple of days. To reduce future risks, make sure you drink a lot of water and "Go" as soon as you can after you feel the "Need"( and after sex  )

I was exactly the same. Since November I had constant thrush which wouldn't clear with the usual creams and tablets. Then in July I had very painful cystitis which is when my nurse noticed sugar in my urine. Diagnosed with Type 2 at the end of July. I cut out all the sugar and rubbish and haven't had thrush since :)

I was exactly the same - 11 years ago. Had thrush for 4 months and lost sooooo much weight then the doctors checked me and diagnosed the dreaded "D". Have to admit tho - my doctors were all really good about it except the consultant at the hosp - he just assumed I new what was happening and didnt tell me anything until I asked. I always ask the nurses now if I have any questions and they know me well enough now to tell me off/help me when needed etc . I still get attacks of thrush if I've been really bad with the chocolate but it doesnt happen much now as I try to stay off the stuff!!! As above - drink lots of water to help reduce attacks but the main trick is - not too much rubbish and sugary stuff.

Hope this helps
