Any recommendations for BG meter?

I bought and have been using for 2-3 months a SD Codefree meter as none supplied by GP/diabetic nurse. Came across a random comment on the Forum of someone experiencing higher readings with this meter than others. So maybe my BG diary is better than I thought? Any others experienced similar or advice to give regarding which meter to use? Thanks :?:

Diagnosed Type 2 (just) end January 2013. No meds in effort to control myself.

There are reports on here that the SD code free does read about 1.0 high, another low cost option is the supercheck2 system if you are self funding.

I have recently switched to the Bayer contour next USB meter kindly sent free from Bayer, which is a great little meter. The strips are around £25+ for 50 though along with other well known brands whose strips are also around the £25+. Some members have reported that if you buy direct from the suppliers you can get the strips cheaper.
