Hi Im Honey,Ive been a diabetic since I was about 16.Sadly I just started getting serious about it.Although I have to say I was off to a great start until my recent doctors visit..seems like my bodies going through what I like to call a tilt...anywho to make a long and dramatic story short.I eat no carbs im on oral and insulin and my sugars are still above 190 while fasting! Anyone got any suggestions???

Hi Honey,

Firstly, let me say it's never too late to start looking after yourself. I grew up with T1, and being a teen with diabetes is a pain!
Secondly, poor you!! You must be feeling pretty rotten at the moment. You don't say how old you are now, and i'm not sure what you mean by a 'tilt', so it's a little difficult to give you some solid advice.
If you're struggling with other medical or hormal changes, or you are under stress at the moment then that won't be helping you get control of your levels, but if it seems like your levels are uncontrollable, even with no carbs, then it's likely your meds need to be adjusted or changed.
It's worth remembering that your body needs carbs for energy and unless you're planning to live carb-free forever then you ought to consider reintroducing some! Remember that it makes little difference whether you bring in the carbs sooner or later you will still have to adjust to what will settle down to be your usual diet, so it may as well be sooner and save yourself the misery! (trust me, i've got friends who've done the Atkins diet and miserable was an understatement!!)

I'm sorry not to be able to advise you more on the info you have given, but if there's anything else you want to ask do feel free to give me a shout!

Best wishes, Anni :)
