So , after a good talk with my DSN today , and already knowing 46 units of Lantus at night as doing nothing but help me put weight on , she's given in and prescribed me a new insulin.

Anybody else take , or even heard of insuman?

Cheers

I've been on insuman since diagnosis of T1 around 1.5 years ago. Don't have experience of any other basal insulins to compare it against but doesn't see to have any side effects. Not sure if it will continue to cause weight gain as I exercise daily and low carb. I use 16 units daily. What did you want to know in particular ?

Just wanted to know how well it works really , my Lantus seems to have failed me :( , I've heard you can split dose it too , do you find you hypo at night? thanks

Hi Fetchmeacoffee,
I haven't tried split dosing , I cycle into work so it would not be good to use in the am. I've only twice had a hypo using insuman but both times were my fault. 1st time I didn't shake it and the 2nd time I injected straight after press ups and I went very low.

One feature I don't like about is it must be kept below 25 C at all times , not sure about other basals, but this was a nightmare in the summer heat wave and it spoiled on a couple of occasions.

Cheers for the info matey - my last hba1c was 8.5 , lowest it's been , hoping this stuff kicks ass! Pick it up tomorrow :)
