Just interest to see if anyone else has had a similar experience following diagnosis. (Diagnosed 6 weeks ago, type1 and most likely honeymooning)
I've been gradually reducing my levemir and I'm now down to 1 unit AM. This morning my readings were
6.6 on waking
8.5 before breakfast (an hour after waking) I had 12.8g of carb and I didn't bolus for it.
4:2 at lunch 66g of carb with 3 units of Humalog (I'm now trying 1:20g ratio)
4.3 at dinner. 20g of carb. .5 units of Humalog
So although the 4's aren't officially low, they're a bit too close to hypo symptom level for my liking. My DSN has said if I keep dropping between breakfast and lunch, to reduce the basal and that I can stop it altogether, just keep checking for any rising BG levels.
I think I will reduce it .5 tomorrow morning, any thoughts, opinions & experiences most welcome!

(I Take 2.5 units of levemir at bedtime)

Reading that back, I wouldn't have understood a word of it 6 weeks ago, the language of diabetes eh? :D:D:D

Ooh yes! Another quick one. GAD antibody came back and it was >2200. I have no idea what that means apart from I am definitely type1. Boo. I had hoped it was all a big mistake.

Maybe you would be better to reduce your bedtime Levemir rather than the morning one. You bedtime dose will still be active well into the next day. I take a split dose of levemir and when I adjust it usually do one then the other if necessary so they are usually similar amounts (currently on 1.5 bedtime and 2 morning, have previously been on 2 & 3, 3 & 4, 4 & 5, 5 & 6 etc).
You might need to experiment to see what works for you. As you are new to it I would discuss it with your DSN.

agree with hels
your numbers are very encouraging - keep up the excellent work :)

That's probably a good idea. I could reduce the Pm by .5 tonight and stick to 1unit tomorrow and see how I go.

I am currently honeymooning and have taken no insulin for the last 2 months.

Currently low carbing to soften the bump when the period ends.

That's interesting CraigDT, how long were you on insulin for initially?

I was BG9 at bedtime, which is higher than usual for me, Humalog taken 4 hours previously but took 2 units instead of 2.5 and still dropped to 7 by this morning (which is the highest waking reading I've had for a while)

Took 1 unit of levemir this morning so let's see what today brings.

I am 36, diagnosed at the end of October last year.

I was on insulin for maybe 3 months. Pretty low levels then in February they kept lowering the doses down to nothing.

I still had an occasional high number but since I have been low carbing it has been almost all 4-6's with a handful of 7's.

I hope to find out more at my next doctor's appointment.
