Just interest to see if anyone else has had a similar experience following diagnosis. (Diagnosed 6 weeks ago, type1 and most likely honeymooning)
I've been gradually reducing my levemir and I'm now down to 1 unit AM. This morning my readings were
6.6 on waking
8.5 before breakfast (an hour after waking) I had 12.8g of carb and I didn't bolus for it.
4:2 at lunch 66g of carb with 3 units of Humalog (I'm now trying 1:20g ratio)
4.3 at dinner. 20g of carb. .5 units of Humalog
So although the 4's aren't officially low, they're a bit too close to hypo symptom level for my liking. My DSN has said if I keep dropping between breakfast and lunch, to reduce the basal and that I can stop it altogether, just keep checking for any rising BG levels.
I think I will reduce it .5 tomorrow morning, any thoughts, opinions & experiences most welcome!
(I Take 2.5 units of levemir at bedtime)
Reading that back, I wouldn't have understood a word of it 6 weeks ago, the language of diabetes eh?
