Anyone experience loss of appetite with Metformin?

I'm 3 weeks in with Metformin and I've gone from eating 3 meals a day with snacks in between to a small breakfast with black coffee, a cup of low fat yoghurt for lunch and I'm still feeling really full up well into the evening.
I had some cramps in the first two days of the meds but everything settled down after that. What I need to know is can I take my evening metformin without food because I'm forcing myself to eat?
