Anyone heard of Banting?

Thanks Sue.
I really must actually read Banting, Atkins and Bernstein et al. even though I don't need any proof a diet low in carbs is working for me.

Been quite hungry today, can't seem to fill myself up. First time for 5 months.

Ah, William Banting! His was the first low-carb diet book ever written, 'Letter on Corpulence Addressed to the Public' published in 1863. The public was very keen, it became a huge success and countless people benefitted from it.
The medical profession, never keen to see their orthodoxy challenged, came down on it like a ton of bricks and frightened people away, seemingly happier with overweight and underinformed patients than fit and healthy ones. How times have changed - NOT!
I have actually read an original copy, kept in the University here. Not really a Booker prize contender, but a really significant book all the same.

All the best,

Its all very well and good, but most people are over weight because they eat too much carbs. Its all about balance. Exercise is the key to being healthy.
