iv been diabetic for 35 years (type 1) an reasonably well controlled but recently iv had trouble with my eyes and have been going for laser surgery, this has not improved matters and if anything my sight has gradually got worse and now im not confident in doin the things i used to because i cant see that well, its really starting to get me down because i never no wots gona happen next, some days my eyes are ok but other days its a struggle to read the paper, my job was working in a warehouse and i need good sight to be able to do my job, ive just recently been made redundant (duno whether thats a good or bad thing with my eyes the way they are) and im not sure wot im gona do next? i just feel totally in limbo and a bit down :( has any1 been in the same position as me or is any1 going through it now?

I haven't so far. But my father did many years ago. He had loads of laser treatment and his eye sight was near perfect afterwards but it did take months. He also had the cateracts removed which improved his vision too. From what I know of this treatment its very successful but does take time.

thanks for your replys guys its a great help speakin to people because sometimes i feel all alone with this,it doesnt help that im a stuborn person who tries to deal with everything on my own :? thanx sarah i will try DLA but because ive never claimed any sort of benefit before its a whole new world to me and im not quite sure how to go about it? ive got another apointment to go to the eye clinic at the end of this month to see a different Dr, i wasnt expectin a great difference to my vision after readin alot about it on the internet but i wasnt expectin it to get worse either :( it feels sometimes that im in no mans place and i dont no what to expect next. im unable to look for a job at the mo aswell because i dont no whats gona happen and this is also putting a strain on my finances so thats just adding to the worry!
