I've had a watch fetish since I was about 8ish, started out with and accurist then onto seiko automatics then on to omegas and rolex.

Anyone else have this sickness ?

Here's my favourites :)

Used to love them but don't even wear them now. This was mine ... cost me $300 in 1975 !!!

Never heard of an orfina, really nice lookin watch, love the black :)

I can't be without a watch, I sleep and shower with one on, my arm feels really weird without one on.

Here's the most expensive I've ever tried on its an AP ROO, one of 10 in the world tourbillion, retail price $260,000 plus tax, it was scarey holding a watch that cost more Than my house!

Thanks to your post, I just looked at the price online of the one I've got .... over $2000 !!!! Time to cash in methinks

It's a great looking watch. Bought it in Switzerland when I was 21 from a shopkeeper in a little lane. Took me 3 days to convince myself I had to have it.

One I SHOULD have got was an Omega speedmaster as worn on the apollo missions

The dial layout of your orfina is very similar to the speedmaster

The speedmaster moon watch is an all time classic, if I was still making good money I would own one by now, it was going to be my next purchase.

I bought my dad an omega sea master for his 60Th birthday I really like the tech behind the co-axial movement but it stays in the box as he's afraid to wear it :(

Yep, they're a nice watch. Cost a packet now but in the day, they were reasonably affordable.

With clocks in cars, clocks on PCs, clocks on radios and everywhere else, I just don't see the need for them ... but I agree they can be a VERY interesting hobby. Mike :)

Yea watches are now a novelty but I still look at mine for the time instead of my phone.

I love the engineering and analogue-ness in automatic movements, the tiny size of everything, I even love the sound of them running at night with my arm above my head on the pillow :)

I don't think I'll ever not wear one.

Yep, and I hate the old digital display **** and the ones in the 70s that came with calculators. What were they thinking

I'm not into the digital ones at all, I've gotta admit I'm a bit of an anti Quartz snob lol

Even though a £10 Casio will guaranteed be more accurate than a £10,000 rolex ;)

If I had 10,000 quid, I'd spend it on anything but a watch. I'd be too damned scared to wear it. I turned down an offer once to buy a genuine hand signed Abbey Road LP for 800 bucks :(

Ouch!!! If you buy them right watches are a decent investment.

The watch I'm wearing right now is worth more than my car but the car is dropping every day while the watch is going up ;)

Not all that surprised though a muscle car I had here (Holden Torana XU1) that I bought for $3000 and sold for $3500 two years later in 1977 is worth close to $200,00

Closest I've had was a knock off Omega from Thailand 3 years ago, was superb copy!

Been wearing past 2 years a Seiko Black Monster, very cheap compared to your lot but does me just fine, most comfortable strap I have known and love the glow in the dark lumen :)

Seiko are great watches and their monster line is really popular amongst the horological lot :)

Most people with high end watches that have proper jobs (ie hardworking) have a daily beater watch, most of those are either Seikos or Casio Gshocks.

I've been in cutting trees and welding mode lately so my seiko divers is out of the box and in action for a few months :)

Yes it's beat up, yes it's covered in welding splatter and yes it looses about 5 mins a week but it's still one of my favourites :)

Seiko has the best lume of any of my watches.

image.jpg Oh ;)

My two investments
An Omega sea master Aqua terra automatic chronograph
And a Brietling bi metal cosmonaught

The omega gets used most weekends
The Brietling hardly ever

Here's a lume comparison I just did...

Rolex Seadweller

The seiko is a LOT brighter and will last until 6 am ish, the rolex is done after a couple of hours.
