As part of my of my diabetes treatment and due to my familial history of hypertension, I've been on Ramipril (an ACE inhibitor) for years.

Recently I've had a couple of weeks where, for whatever reason, I've been unable to use them. I've been BP testing and to my surprise my BP without the Ramipril has been showing up at 120/70 but with it, 130/70. Whilst this isn't a huge difference, it is higher, and I was wondering whether anyone else had seen this kind of phenomenon?

I've never taken meds to decrease my BP, only take them to raise it :) Sorry I had to be different :)

Not that phenomenon exactly but I get very high readings when in the surgery. When I come home the readings are quite normal. DN thinks I have hypertension and I disagree. We call it blue frock syndrome since she doesn't wear a white coat.

I believe that blood pressure can be a function of where you are what you are thinking about. I ended up on a 24 hour monitor. The highest readings are when DN was fitting the thingy, when she took it off and once in the middle of the test when I was thinking about going back to the surgery at the end of the test.

I never thought that Ramipril made any difference to this strange phenomena and it just gave me a stomach ache. I got changed onto Amlodipine but I can't tell the difference.
