Hello,
I said I'd give you all an update on my appointment with the nurse.
Had more blood tests, HB1AC, cholesterol, thyroid and something else? My blood pressure was good 120/70, think thats the lowest it's ever been, have lost 8kg since the last time i was there which is good.
Diabetic nurse was actually really good, I took all my blood glucose results with me and she read them all, she said I can have test strips on prescription, no problem at all. I have to go and see a dietician, got to go for retinal screening and am going on a 6 week course at our hospital to educate me, week 4 involves a trip round the supermarket to look at food labels! She said there's a 4 month waiting list for it, am kinda thinking they aint gonna tell me too much so not really bothered about the waiting list! She did say she was impressed I'd done so much research before seeing her and didn't really think there was much else she could tell me which did make me feel pretty good!
I told her I was trying a low carb diet, her answer - you need some carbs! She gave me the usual leaflets on health eating!
I asked about metformin or something similar and she said I have to wait for my blood test results to come back, got another appointment on 4th November then an appointment with the dr straight after so he can prescribe me whatever he wants to!
All in all it wasn't too bad, still not coping too well but I think I just have to get used to it, have ended up with an afternoon off work cos I still keep bursting into tears, having some issues with my boyfriend as well so that's not helping!
Anyway, that's all for now, am planning a night in the pub, was meant to be seeing my boyfriend but as he has man flu that's not happening!
Take care everyone
