Are there medical professionals on this site?

I have noticed on this forum that there is a member who states that they have a Health Professional qualification and as a result have posted up a detailed medical answer to a query. I am not disputing the fact that this person is a health professional and I do not wish to insult them but how can we be sure that they are indeed a Health Professional?

I would like to suggest that if there is a Doctor/DSN etc involved on this site offering professional advice, then admin need to clarify their positions and make it clear that the person is indeed who they say they are. A majority of us are diabetics who purely offer advice based on our own experiences and we would never offer a diagnosis unless qualified to do so. I would indeed argue how solid a diagnosis can be when it has taken from a few lines of text on a forum anyway.

The internet can bring out all kinds of people and there should be a moral responsibility to safeguard those who come to this site for advice.

Can I please say again, I do not wish to insult anyone on this forum that is not my intention and I apologize if I have done so.

Hi Ogri,

That is certainly against the rules of the forum as I understand them. You can report a post by clicking on the exclamation mark icon and pass on a concern or pm either Benedict or the site admin. You have hit the nail on the head by the way - there may well be medical professionals reading / posting but we have no way of verifying the credentials of anyone posting here and that's why the forum should only be a way to share experiences from a personal perspective.

Thanks for your reply rglennon, much appreciated.

I'm not reporting a specific post because indeed the person who posted might be who they say they are. I am not assuming otherwise. I am asking though what the procedure is in identifying qualified professionals.
