Ask for Help- having difficulties with blood sugar tonight

Hi I have been diabetic a long time but am newish to pump treatment.

i have a sickness and diarrhoea bug and cannot get my bloodsugar down.
I have not really eaten today so know it is bug related.

I have been increasing the % of insulin given by day and am now at 100%.
I have changed my site- had a new one today - have moved it to my arm tonight.
I have given an injection - the pump said 5 and i gave 10 but 2 hrs later - sugar was higher- had gone from 19 to 21.
That was when i changed my site= went to 100% and gave another 5.

anything else ii should have done- about to check for ketones.

Dont want to ask for support from team if i missed or forgot something.

Sorry I can't help you much as I am T2 and have no knowledge of pumps etc, but if I was you I would contact your support team, that's what they are there for after all If your not feeling well and not eating it can't be good for you and you say you're fairly new to your pump so I am sure your team would be happy to help

Hopefully somebody will come along that can help you more than me

Sorry you're feeling so rough. The only other thing I can think of is that you got a dodgy vial of insulin - did you use a new vial recently?

When I got the pump I remember being given a sickness protocol to follow. It had instructions on what to test for, then what to do based on your results. Do you have anything similar you can follow?

no protocol- i have thrown the insulin bottle away that i used this morning and resited and used new insulin tonight - went for my arm and also injected large bolus and am up to 100% and have finally got it to start to come down.
But thanks for advice- glad it did it right.
they said to check pump is dispensing - change site - change insulin and all equipment and inject for bolus rather than pump as it goes deeper and when very high if using pump need double does and absorpion closer to surface..
So have done it all and after a day of beeing between 19 and 24 i am finally down to 10. Just need to watch i havent over done it now.
wish this bug would ease though - easier solution

Oh no sorry to hear your not well, glad your bg is starting to come down now.

I have been on a pump since beginning of the year and wasn't told anything about what to do if I am unwell so well done for doing what you did.

Personally I can only use my stomach for my pump any other part if the body I have tried is just too slow and I end up with higher readings so I wouldn't have put it on my arm but if that works for you then great

Have you checked for air bubbles in your tube or is it leaking and have you tried priming it to check that insulin is coming out also change your cannula as it can hit a blood vessel and get blocked cos of the blood building up In your site
