asking the right questions

I have an appointment next week with the diabetic nurse and am not a lover of confrontation but feel that now I need to be asking questions
I have a couple in mind but re my meds and dr just uping them and adding extra rather than discussing options available first.
Do people ask re the side effects I.e low b12 and maybe lower magnesium from taking tabs ???
Are there any questions that spring to mind that I may be missing

The risk of metformin lowering B12 and folate is thought to be an issue after 3 years of use. I'm not aware that it reduces magnesium levels, but I could be wrong about that.
