At what level do you check for ketones?

I've read differing advice. At what level do you decide to do a ketone check?

Hi @pinewood.
I personally would not do ketones until my meter started flashing hysterically (which I think is anything above 13mmol/l) or unless I was unwell or weeing a lot etc.

Basically, I haven't felt the need to do it since I first brought my BG numbers down after diagnosis.

Thanks @urbanracer. I unexpectedly dipped into double figures this morning for the first time in a long while and I wasn't sure if I should have done a Ketone check even though I felt fine. It dropped back down pretty quickly in any event.

The advice I've heard is over 15, at least that's what advice seems to say for when you're ill anyway

I've been told to test for ketones if BG is 14 or higher, unless I know for sure why it has happened e.g. forgetting to bolus a meal.

I've been told to only test if my glucose level is above 14 mmol AND if I feel unwell
