" Auto Amputation"

Hi, The third toe on my right foot, is in the process of "auto amputation".....in other words it is dropping off, anyone experienced this, if so, how long is it likely to take ?......I asked my nurse to actually pull it off last week, but because it is bleeding slightly she declined, but reckoned when I go next week it should be off........any thoughts welcomed......

Sorry to hear that @Del80, and do hope you're getting good pain relief meds. A family member had the same for a long time, , and their toe never actually came off. Everyone will be different though, so hope the nurse is right, and the area heals well.

Thanks for that, the toe is literally hanging by a thread, fingers crossed it will be gone soon.........

Just an update.......my toe has now "auto amputated".......in other words it has dropped off......not bleeding, and no pain.......just got to keep it bandaged up for a couple of weeks, so that it don't get infected.......
