Hi .. my average readings for the past 90 days according to my monitor are 5.2 .. i have been testing .. On Fasting, then x 2hrs after eating breakfast .. then Before dinner 6pm and then x 2hrs post dinner ... put these results in to the calculator and says hb1ac is .. 29.8
As i am due for my Hb1ac next week just wondered how accurate these results are .. probably am getting into worrying time now !!!
Many thanks xx

No need to worry. Average readings of 5.2 are a dream for many of us. They are absolutely normal.

Hello dvd
You have no reason to be concerned with numbers as low as yours. However I think you need to prepare yourself for a higher hba1c result than your figures indicate. You are testing 4 times a day over 90 days that is only 360 results, half of those tests are before meals when your bs is at its lowest, the other half are at 2 hr after meals when your bs will probably have been on its way down. If you had been testing before every meal, at 1 & 2 hours post meals, fasting and before bed. Apart from sore fingers that would have given you 990 results and an average closer to your true hba1c.

I wouldn't be at all worried with those readings. My only word of warning would be not to set your heart on a sub-30 HbA1c. Our finger prick tests are a snapshot of that moment, and at the two hour point, the glucose level is likely coming down from an earlier peak, which the reading doesn't take into account. Similarly, to be fair, it doesn't necessarily pick up any lower scores either.

I think I've only ever seen two sub-30 HbA1cs on here, posted by diagnosed diabetic or pre-diabetic people.

Good luck though. I hope you join the teenie, tiny club.
