Hi folks sure i came here a couple of years ago and wasted your time because for some unknown reason i have neglected my condition . I now aim to give it a real go ,17 days in and getting what i deem are reasonable meter readings although i do aim to swiftly improve them mainly 6s with the odd 5/7 thrown in . I am on a low carb regime very alien to me as i have been very high carb much of my life and probably the reason i now have diabetes.Been eating mainly chicken and steak with vegatables added have also managed to reduce my weight down from just over 19st to 18st 5lb and intend getting rid of a lot more . I am 56 yr old Taxi driver living with my long term partner (over 20 yrs) Alison is a Nurse .My hobbies are collecting all manner of things antiques and collectables and have a vast array of items - I have a dog Ben who i love intensely he is more like a small horse (Rhodesian Ridgeback) i also help run a rugby league club in Rochdale , I suffer many pain symptoms that i connect with the diabetes pretty much every part of my body i hope to at least ease some of these pains by better management of the condition.I come from a family of 6 children i am third eldest my next and closest brother 2 yrs older than me is terminal with Bowel cancer that has spread to several other sites he is quite well in himself and suffers no pain i just hope the treatment he gets will keep him well for an extended period -i go out with him for the day once a week .He also has type 2 and has now gone on insulin probably due to the cancer . I hope to pop in regularly and update on my progress.

your bloods aren't too bad, I guess you want to lose weight and see if you can get off the Tradjenta
a lot find just cutting the carbs helps with a the aches and pains, you may find you need to go very low carb for a while
it’s a long page and a few good video’s

For me, the more carbs we eat the more carbs we want. they don’t give up easy

Thanks for that - its now or never realy or i may get to a point of no return amputations etc so i do intend trying hard to alter my ways ,cant say i have noticed any reduction in the many pains in many parts as yet and that surprises me after 17 days cutting the carbs .I have even developed a pain in the butt probably as a consequence of changing diet so radically and now suffer a degree of constipation .

change of diet will bind you for a while. drink lots of water, laxatives, oat or wheat bran [don't over do it]..I took a variety of probiotics because T2 have different gut bugs to the normal pop.
you my need some more salt too, as you have cut junk and low carb flushes salt

I cut grain, rice etc..grain product, bread, pasta etc,... starchy veg, potato, corn..sugary stuff inc, fruit and juice
