Hello all, I am on Diamicron 30mg x 3, Stiglapin 100mg & Forixiga. These are new meds because i had been taking Metaformin 850mg x 4 a day for years, they disrupted my tummy. Lately my hba1c is 89 it has gone up just when i thought it would come down. I dony have a great appetite, i had been on Trulicity jab for a year too, since then appetite and menu very bland, it suits me, potato, chicken, spinach or peas. My diabetes nurse says that they may put me on 4 x 30mg Diamicron but that's as far as they can go with them and then they have to consider "background" insulin, i was wondering have any of you had this, she said it doesn't make me a Type 1 Diabetic. I would appreciate any information on it if any of you have had experience of it. Thank you all in advance, and Happy New Year to you all.

When I started background insulin it was very small amounts building up each week till they (put me on a second insulin as well )a rapid acting one. It took a long time before I got on the full amount (for me) of background, dont expect much change immediate and keep a record of all your blood measurements
mine is Trujeo and to be honest it didnt affect me badly at all (no side effects)

Thank you so much for your reply Mark, much appreciated. Did your sugars come down eventually, and were u still on diabetes meds. I find walking excercise hard as i have leg problem i bought leg excerciser. But i guess going walking outside be better even if its just short walks.

my sugar did come down but very slowly, the rapid insulin had much more effect. We are not all the same though, re walking even short walks should help and get you into going further after a bit, try both that and the exercise walker (it wont harm)
