Background retinopathy

Hi everyone. I'm 40 years old and have been a type 1 diabetic for over 30 years. I've had background retinopathy for around 5 years now, but just recently my vision has got worse, seeing more floater/webs in my vision. The diabetes care team suggest background retinopathy doesn't impact vision but it clearly is getting worse. My a1cs have been between 50-53 over the last few years so can be improved. I'm a tennis coach and this is becoming increasingly scary.

Would anyone have any experiences in this area that may help?

Many thanks

Have you seen an eye doctor with your changed vision?
This would be an urgent first step with new symptoms.

I had my retinopathy check last month , I spoke to the consultant he said the same as every year since I can remember (43 years for me ) some changes nothing to worry about , when I asked him he asked me how long I had diabetes I told him he said i was doing really well considering the time I had had diabetes , he said when he was seeing was what and optician would see with someone with pre diabetes , my eyesight did get worse but I had both my cataracts done now see without glasses part from for reading
