Just a quick question, with an HBA1C of 10.9 after trying metformin are they likely to put me srraight on insulin when I go and see doc on wednesday? :,(
Hi,
I don't think so, they will possibly increase the Metformin. Metformin normally takes a few weeks to work correctly, how long have you been on it.
Also the HbA1c test shows results for the last 9 to 12 weeks, and not your current blood glucose.
When were you tested
Ive been on metformin for over a year. I stared on one and the docs increased. I went back three times to tell them that they make me ill just kept being told to bear with it. The last visit I burst out crying as I know my numbers were creeping up but he just said I was depressed and gave my anti depressants! Ive now changed my docs and had an hba1c and full bloods last thursday got told results today, seeing the doc wednesday to discuss and petrified ive messed things up so much they wont even entertain allowing me to stay on metformin x
Doubt it either. they'll just up your Metformin. I ended on the max dose + Gliclazide and all the Metformin made me very sick considering I had recent bowel surgery and demanded to be taken off them. I've had 3 years of bad A1c results, varying from 12.5 % to 10%. My GP referred me for insulin therapy this year and am now on Humulin M3. Even though injecting and constant blood sugar monitoring is a bit of a pain I feel a lot better switching from oral tabs to insulin. If you've had a long spell with high A1c levels why not ask about insulin, they can on;y say no. Hope this helps
what is your diet like? the doctors saying tht is their way of saying diabetes is progressive, we expect it to get worse, which i believe is total ******, i would if i were you avoid insulin t all costs after researching it (my opnion)
