bad pms symptoms

Hi, Niamh1! I'm so excited to see your question!
The week before my period would start, my blood glucose (BG) would go really high and nothing - not even up to 6 extra shots a day - could bring it down. The PMS got so bad at times I would consider suicide. On the day I started, my BG would crash big time and all day long I was eating glucose to cover it.
I asked my doctor about it and he said there had been little research on the relationship between BG and PMS, but it made sense that they were affected as they are both ruled by hormones (insulin and estrogen).
What I found to help me was Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) and Black Currant Oil. Taking the EPO before my cycle helped flatten out my PMS and my BG. I am not one to recommend "cures", especially since being a T1 for 54 years I've heard A LOT of them - from cinnamon to fenugreek and many, many in between. But... hand to God, this stuff saved my life.
You can get these oils over the counter. EPO isn't as strong as Black Currant Oil, so I'd give that a try first.
I hope this helps!
