this could be due to an allergy or irritation caused by shampoos or conditioner or styling products, also if you are not rinsing your hair well enough, could be a build up of styling products.

Wash your hair with a mild shampoo, dry thoroughly, then do a hair mask made of honey and coconut oil, put on a shower cap, leave overnight if you can, wash hair with a mild shampoo again, your scalp should be in a much better condition now.

Do you have any recommendations of mild shampoo? And yes I scratch mine till I bleed! and then I scab I hate it! It's only been happening over the past year or so though!

I find T-Gel and other coal tar based shampoos to be great for my scalp. I tend not to condition my hair as much as I used to as it makes my scalp flare up. I can only speak as a psoriasis sufferer but I'm sure it will be of some use to try out the shampoo :)

Giverny, thank you! I shall try that! :)
No problem! I'll warn you now though, T-Gel and other coal tar shampoos have a very distinctive smell about them and it might be tempting to try and cover it up with conditioner or a different shampoo but try and steer clear of that until your scalp is better :)

I'm not too bothered about the smell as long as it clears it up that's all I care about aha!

Thank you for your help! :) xx

Hi, I had a really itchy scalp for years, and it also got so bad that i also used to scratch until it bled, I started to use head and shoulders itchy scalp care, It worked wonders, no more itchy scalp, always worth a try.

Ive just started using tgel after years of h&S (it controled it really well untill about a month ago) cant say it made the best improvement.

the only other thing that REALLY helps is Betacap but its a steroid based thing. stops the itch really well though. Drs only for that.

I found that betacap really, really burned my head when I put it on. I have sensitive skin anyway but I'm usually okay with steroid based medication.

The single best medication I've ever used for clearing up my scalp psoriasis was Cocois (another coal tar based product). I get it on prescription and it's my emergency backup for when T-Gel fails me. I've recently been using Tesco's own brand medicated shampoo in the green bottle as well and so far so good. Thought it might be worth a try given that t-gel is so expensive.
