Bagpipes

Now I live in scotland and am partial to the pipes from time to time. I've lived in my current flat for 8 months with two students above me who are loud at times, but generally courteous and turn music off by 10pm.

But this morning. Bagpipes. At 9am?!? I mean COME ON! He's not bad at them to be fair, but I was enjoying a bit of a lie in. I've never even heard them play the pipes before!
 

What did the Romans ever do for us? Leave their bagpipes behind ... cheers for that!! I get a similar sound when I squeeze the neighbour's cat under my arm and blow through its .... I can get three different notes if I use its nostrils. :evil:

I had a friend at University who played the pipes. He always went outdoors to play. suggest your young neighbour do the same.

Bagpipes, Japanese drums - much rather those than my alarm clock :clap:
 
My alarm clock is my dog, but we'd gone back to bed after a quick walk and wanted to be lazy!

Loooove bagpipes!!!

Used to do the odd gig where pipers (scots guards, I think, - definitely wearing kilts )would march in playing during various pieces, ( for the musos out there, one was one of those awful songs of the British isles type suites, the other was various different versions of the 12 days of Christmas, with real Lords, playing hooky from the House of Lords, ballet dancers all over the place, drummers drumming, and, yes, pipers piping!! ) luckily, they were never in small enclosed spaces, - usually Hyde Park, or the Royal Albert Hall. They made the most amazing sound! - Funny thing though, they were ALWAYS 2 bars late. - Even when we gave them extra time to get into position, they were still exactly 2 bars late. What's that about???

I like Irish (Uillean) pipes and drums, japanese taiko drums and erhu :3 Actually I think a lot of east Asian classical music and traditional Celtic/gaelic music have a lot in common- they would make a legitimately good fusion genre.

Irish pipes can sound almost identical to an erhu (Chinese violin) and both places make extensive use of the dulcimer.

Back to pipes, a guy at my old school (the BRiT school) often played pipes and accordion outside at break times

Found a cool pipes and drums CD in Poundland a while ago. It's great music but fortunately also easily available cheaply in record stores and budget/charity shops alike.




Horn player that sounds totally awesome! I've played in Hyde Park (steelband) myself, cool isn't it?! You sound a very talented and experienced musician Aw I wish I was one of your ballet dancers, but I would die of nervousness at your awesome

my local running club's new years eve 10k race starts and finishes in my village, so I always run it.

They have an ex-black watch piper who turns up every year to pipe us off at the start and then at 8km gone just at the top of the only hill on the course.

I quite like it really
 

That would be great! I do love them when in the right, outdoor, location!
