Hi, it kind of depends what`s on offer really, if possible go for whole meat i.e. steak, pork, chicken etc rather than burgers or sausages as you won`t know what their ingredients are, most veg are fine (not sweetcorn!), be careful of bbq sauces as they are often full of sugar. Most importantly though enjoy yourself and don`t fret too much about the food, I think you probably have a pretty good idea about what to avoid anyway, oh and try not to overdo the beer too much! Have a good timeI am on a low carb high fat diet and I've been invited to a barbecue today, what advice would you give me for the best choice of foods. Thanks
I'm not being sarcastic but maybe don't blame the wine unless of course it was sweet or a sweeter white.
The fat in the chicken skin or in the sausage ( both high saturated fat) would raise me later. Greek salad dressing could have sugar or saturated fat in the feta cheese. Saturated fat does not do me well. A low carb meal high in saturated fat is worse for me than a few more carbs. It makes me insulin resistant for 3 days.
Try the bottle of wine without the saturated fat haha.
LOL, we may have the same brother-in-law! Very worried about salmonella...I'm on a LCHF diet, and there's nothing wrong with a bit of saturated fats - they don't raise my BG at all. However, In this case, as my brother-in-law was in charge of the barbie, there was very little fat (or protein, or in fact oxygen or hydrogen molecules) in the meat, it was mostly just carbon.
I made the Greek salad and I can assure you the dressing was pure Olive Oil and lemon juice and herbs, anything else would be disrespectful to the proud history of that country.
