Isn't it so lovely to have the barbie weather with us again?Today we've sat in the sun and had a barbie......lamb skewers, with flat mushrooms with stilton and mixed salad. Also I love it now that British strawberries are in season...so much nicer than those Spanish things.
I'm lucky to live near good strawberry picking fields and I'll be stocking up on strawberries and raspberries soon. I always used to make summer pudding in the soft fruit season and freeze a batch. Has anyone tried the ground almonds cake mix as a substitute for bread in summer pudding? I wondered how that might freeze. Please let me know if you've tried this. Ta.

Grrrrr strawberries! I missed the first local ones but had some very acceptable Belgian Elsantas. There's a lack of sheep in the fields now and a corresponding increase in the succulence of the spring lamb in the butcher's shop, and the sparrowgrass is in full flow.

Had to look out my winter woolies and put the central heating back on a few days ago, now I'm having difficulty finishing the gardening without melting. I promised to take mother to the plant nursery but I'm afraid we'll die of heatstroke in the poly tunnels

It's very sunny here, but also very windy, which makes it difficult to sit out.

I had strawberries in my greenhouse, and ate quite a lot of them, but then a rat got in and polished off the last few, so it's off to Tesco for the strawbs now. I can't resist them, luckily they don't have much effect on the blood sugar. And my raspberries will be ripening soon, looking forward to that.

i googled and its something to do with having blackened thighs

Dont go beating yourself up over it :D
