Basal need adjusting

Happy new year everyone
Quick question so this has happened a few times. Wake up in the am & I may be between 9-12
I give 1 unit (normally as will be having a coffee within 30 mins of waking aswell)
But it seems to rise-for example this am woke up & I was 11.1, gave the insulin it went down to 9 then went to 10.5?
My question is do I need to alter my basal rate slightly?

If this was consistent for 3 or 4 days I would increase basal. Basals change from time to time. It's just a matter of looking for patterns and adjusting appropriately.
 
I had a problem with spikes after breakfast, I don't generally suffer much from the dawn phonamam. Clinic advised I increased basal about 10% from 4am. I was sceptical, but it improved things.

So little tweaks.
