Basal - night or morning

IHS and HSW posted some incredibly useful info about the action times of lantus but I,m back again, sorry.
If the long term insulin is most effective up to 16 hours then would it be better to inject in the morning when it' would be more effective for the three main meals ?
 
Should your basal insulin only be lasting 16 hours you need to go on a split dose (2 injections a day) or switch to a alternative insulin. With a basal insulin like lantus which is supposedly meant to last 24 hours it doesn't matter what time you inject your insulin, just remember that the suppose of basal insulin is to deal with the constant trickle of glucose released by the liver during fasting, so the time you would want it to be most is when you are sleeping.
