i dont know bout anyone else but thsi to me is nuts i have to test my bloods at least 4 times a day depending on what im doing and eatin so i know how much insulin to take i have done the daphne course and that has helped me out loads with my blood sugars but to be told testin every day is pointless and shouldnt be done is just totally nuts how the hell are you sposed to keep good control if your not allowed to test when you need to i had to walk out of my gps office for nearly linching him the fool somethin needs to be done about this do they not realise that without the proper control you are at major risks from health issues

HI
I am type 2, I have been told i have to test up to 6 times daily, to get control of diabeties!
That is strange, was your doctor having a bad day saying not to test! being on insulin is serious, You need to test!
This could cause high or low blood sugars, Sounds weird! I would say change doctors if i was you!

yea i kno lol i have moved docrtors due to movin house lol his reason was because test strips aint cheap and the government are cuttin down on stuff or somethin lol what a load of dog poop lol im goin to continue testing as i do its my health on the line other wise im not risking that for anyone no matter what teyll get the hint when i go in reg for repeat prescriptions lol im not goin to change what ive been doin for like 9 years i dont see why i should

I would demand to see a new doctor, i think that one needs serious help!
It is normal for us type 2's to be denyed test strips but a type 1, that is so stupid and wrong!
I wonder if that doctor knows what could happen if blood sugar too low or too high!
maybe you need to give that doctor some leaflets on diabeties! Honest sounds stupid! And weird!

lmao i kno but i couldnt really say anythin at the time i was to shocked so i think im goin to put a complaint in cos it is stupid hahaha but i kno what i need to do to control my diabetes so im goin to carry on doin so if they want to complin ill say well if i stop testin then youll pay the conciquences (if thats how its spealt lol) *** befoe anyone actually ralises its normally been to alte for some one it doesnt matter what the situation is but somethin terible has to happen before someone takes note and changes things go figure lol

Go back in with a hacksaw, chop off his leg and say

"You first!"

IMO this amounts to serious malpractice, it's hard enough for a Type 2 but for an insulin user this is truly dangerous advice. Frankly I'd complain to the practice manager and the PCT, and if you have one your Endo or hospital clinic, but meantime I'd be asking around to find a proper doctor. The pharmacist may know which doctors don't restrict test strips, your friends and neighbours may know who to recommend and who to avoid.

I buy my strips as my endocrinologist told me not to test more than twice a day...when i get up and when I go to bed just as a check. As you say what a load of poop. At the time I didn't argue as I was not as clued up as I am now. I am off to see him again in a couple of weeks and shall be asking why :)

lmao right since posting this post i have spoken to my diabets nurse and she sent me a letter to take to my docs to tell them they have to give me as many test strips as i need because i havbe to check it every day not only because i have type 1 diabetes but also because ive done the dafne course hahaha so hopefully hell sort it if not im gonna ave to put in a major complaint lol cos hes a stupid doc lol
