Before lunch readings are scary good.

Testing before lunch I have a reading of 4.9, and I actually feel really great.

This morning was pre breakfast 5.7 and post breakfast 5.8.

What should I be settling too as a constant reading as if my levels continue to stay good and drop slightly I will need to address my very low carb diet to introduce something just to top it up?

Thanks

Just done after lunch nearoy 2 hours now 5.5.

You mean how low is too low?

That's the eternal question to which the answer seems to be 'your liver should get you out of most trouble'.

However, if you aren't getting DP anymore, I think you have less of an (annoying) buffer. Good at other times, certainly.

I think I would settle for something around where it is now.

Fasting blood glucose of 4 - 4.5 and after meal levels below 6. That also keeps you in the 'no more than 2 points spike 2 hours after a meal' club, which is seems to be the consensus around here. I think those levels are non-diabetic enough to keep you both safe and give you a bit of breathing space sometimes.

I'm on insulin, so I may not be the most qualified person to answer you, though. That's just what it seems most other people are able to achieve if they put in as much work as you seem to. I am a bit cautious with my fasting levels myself because of the fact I am asleep when they are made :) So I tend to keep mine around 5. I don't like to find them above 6.0 after a meal, but I don't mind going as low as 4.0 in the day time when I am awake to react. Much lower, and I will have hypo trouble - it kicks in anywhere between 4.5 and 3.5 for me. It shouldn't for you, really - at least not the dangerous kind as we discussed in a different thread ages ago.

Just enjoy Biohazard. They won't get too low. No need to adjust diet unless you WANT to and can get away with it. As you know from my signature line, I eat moderate carbs at about 150 a day, but I get an HbA1c of 5.7% on that and that's good enough for me. If you have ambitions lower )which many do) then keep your diet as is.

By the way, I'm nearly always in the 4s before lunch because I'm best at that time of day. If I exercise, like a bit of golf, I'll be in the 3s. Sometimes I've measured 3.2. Means I earn a bacon buttie with brown sauce for lunch!

Thanks guys, I am still 20g-30g carbs. So will keep to that for the time being. :D
