Hi there in looking for some advice asap if anyones able to help . IM having a lot of issues with my 5 yr old and school . The main issue is when his high he behaves stupidly and does some very naughty things . Now i agree he does need to be punished but surely some consideration needs to be taken into place . Yesterday for example his levels were 18 mmols he was over excited and drew on a material arm chair . Now i know he knows this wrong and it must have been where he was high but they are just going down the route that his a naughty boy and its really upsetting me . I have a meeting with school at half 2 was wondering if your Childs behaviour changed drastically when high low etc sorry for going on in just very confused . He was only diagnosed in the summer x x

I am 19 years old and have been a diabetic for a few months (type 1) and if my blood sugar levels go above abput 13/14 mmol I am the same I get very hyper and stupid and yes sometimes naughty! I find it very hard to believe that at school hes not being supported threw this... My farther is aged 51 and is also a type 1 diabetoc and sometimes gets the same! This angers me and I hope it gets sorted! :)

High or low blood sugar cause a person to act strangely. If a person needs insulin to reduce their blood sugar level they can become aggressive or disorientated. Sometimes, even though they know they behaving oddly, they can't seem to rationalise enough to take their medication. This can be difficult for other people to deal with and that is why it is very important for diabetics to be self disciplined enough to take their medication on time and to eat regularly.
