I have had a bowl of berries and cream with a couple of squares of 74% chocolate. I also had a cup of tea, Before my bg was 4,7 2 hours later it was 6.5. I was surprised by this result as I didn't think the rise would be that high.

Did it just add up to too many carbs? Should I have less berries next time and maybe no chocolate?

I'm thinking that there is absolutely nothing wrong with peaking at 6.5

Admittedly, that is a rise of 1.8 but you started and ended in the normal range, so I would be pleased and celebrate with more choc! (Only joking)

The only reason I would do it differently next time would be if I was eating it with other carby food, or if I had a higher starting reading.

Although both levels are in the normal range I wasn't expecting such a rise but maybe it wasn't as low carb as I thought.

If in doubt, best to weigh and calculate the carbs. Some people seem to be able to tolerate more berries than other people - everything comes back to your meter really.

l find 90% better than 85% regards amt carbs.

And as for different foods berries with full yogurt (3g/100g) bounces me from 5.0 to 6.3
Berries with cream doesnt cause a ripple l can go from 5.0 to 5.1
Everyone on here who has the yogurt and berries seems to be fine......except me :-(

I'm the same, plus I much prefer cream to yoghurt with berries anyway. I'd need to probably halve the amount of berries to eat them with yoghurt. I'd rather eat the yogurt by itself at a different time.

l forgot l should have put l have tried just the yogurt just on its own and still 6.3 but as you say l prefer the cream and berries anyway

"...a cup of tea..." Was that tea with caffeine and lactose? I wouldn't rule the cuppa out of your enquiries, Aqua.

I would say nothing to worry about with those levels so tuck in and enjoy the berries and cream..I have berries with cream and greek yogurt together but have never tested after just eating those they are always a part of my evening meal which will usually be in the 6's 2 hours after

I would also say nothing to worry about those levels. In fact I would be very pleased with them. I have berries every morning for breakfast with Alpro plain soya yogurt-type. I always weigh my berries first, aiming for about 70g which gives me 7 carbs and plenty of berries. I'm not a cream lover.

Thank you for all your replies.

avocado you are probably right about the tea. I have a tiny bit of milk, not found an alternative yet.

I have just had berries and yoghurt for my breakfast so will see how that compares, I will continue eating berries and cream as the levels are OK I just wasn't expecting to see 6.5

yoghurt, berries and almonds - pre meal 5.3, after 2 hours 5.2. Maybe it was the chocolate

Oh no not the chocolate! Try it again with a cup of tea. Worst case, you could swap your choc for 85%

oops I forgot to say that I had a cup of tea this morning too. I will retest without the chocolate then try yoghurt, berries and chocolate. then give up and eat it anyway as the levels weren't too bad

No! Not the chocolate. What a ridiculously impossible suggestion.

Must have been the tea. Or the milk. Or the phase of the moon.

CAN'T have been the chocolate.
