Depends on if you are going to self fund the test strips yourself. I have recently switched to the contour next USB meter and its a great little meter. Software is easy to use, uses a rechargeable battery which is charged via a usb port on your computer and if you register the meter you can send for a free mains charger. If you are self funding the strips worth checking with the supplies as to the cost of strips, because if you buy from a chemist they are around £25 + for 50 strips.
If you want cheaper test strips there the SD code free system (though reports say it reads about 1.0 high), there's also the supercheck2 system.
