Hi all. I’ve had trouble with my blood sugar since I was a child. Recently after my pregnancy and since I’ve been breastfeeding my blood sugar dips have been so much worse. It has been suggested I get a meter to start observing. Can any here in uk recommend a budget friendly accurate one?
Thanks

Hi @Catkin35 , welcome to the forum.
My colleague @Rachox has a useful bit of information on meters, I'm sure she'll share it here as soon as she comes online again.
With glucose meters it's the cost of the strips where you'll spend the money, most companies will give you a meter for free if you ask, hoping you'll continue to buy their brand of test strips.
It's worth googling the company and see if they'll give you a free meter
Alternatively you could try a Freestyle Libre sensor. They're not as accurate as glucose meters, so I would double check with a finger prick a couple of times if you choose this route, but much more useful for spotting trends. They're expensive too, but it might be you can get a free trial: https://sample.freestyle.abbott/gb-en/freestylelibre.html
There are also discount codes for when you come to buy more strips - "navii5" and "navii10" will give you 20% off purchases of 5 packs of strips and 25% off 10 packs of strips respectively.
Then they sell the older SD Code Free, details to be found here:
Accuracy comes at a cost if you are looking for a meter that is relatively low cost and has reasonable accuracy I personally would recomend the Tee2+ I have one my daughter also has one there is a link to it in @Rachox post . meters are always a personal choice and each person has a prefered meter but they all have to conform to the national standard though some meters go beyond what is required.
