Only you can decide , with, perhaps advice from your HCP, on how you manage with your medication.Hi I am taking Jardiance and finally getting readings around 7 , sometimes slightly higher but not much.
Iv realised if I have fewer carbs I can enjoy an odd ice cream or sweet thing.
Even fruit and my readings are still low in the mornings
Is this ok though do you think?Feels wrong but I guess the proof is in the morning read?
What would you say please?

Jardiance was once described to me , by a HCP as a medicine that allows you to eat whatever you like, “as the medicine helps you pee out all the sugar”. That concerned me, and I didn’t rate her advice, much. Or ask for that medication to be prescribed.
A difficulty for me would be that, too much sugar ‘being peed out’ is a possible cause of thrush infections. Also, putting sweet stuff or any carbs into my diet could lead to me craving more. That could lead to the need for increased medication. Some people don’t mind going down the medications route, and that is fine as long as they do so knowingly and willingly.
@lotuslight, it is good that you are getting readings you are happy with. How often are you testing? How are your HbA1c readings? Most importantly, have you any worrying symptoms of T2, such as weight gain, foot problems, fatigue, etc.?
I do feel that if you have a preference for sweet things it is wise to have the ‘odd thing’ as you put it. Just beware and aware of the pitfalls, but enjoy.

However if you're only doing one test, and that in the morning, you're only getting a single snapshot that won't show you how your blood glucose levels vary over the rest of the day and particularly in response to food. Morning readings before food will show you the blood glucose level that your liver thinks is currently appropriate: the fasted morning level is controlled largely by how much glucose your liver is making and adding to your blood. It's a kind of an indicator because your liver will try to maintain BG levels where it thinks they should be: it can get very used to higher levels and will work to keep them high.
It's impossible to guess from one test result what's happening - your levels when you test might be stable, falling, or rising at the point of test. Normally I'd suggest testing around meals - one test immediately before eating, to establish a baseline: and then a second two hours later, to see how well your system dealt with the carbs in what you ate. This is not about "how high you go". You're aiming for the second reading to be within 2mmol/l of the first, and not above 8.5. If it is, your system plus medication dealt with the carb load well. If it isn't, it means there were too many carbs in the meal for your system and meds to handle, and your blood glucose level was too high for too long as a result.
Your HbA1c result will show how over a longer period how well you're dealing with blood glucose - it's not really possible to accurately predict HbA1c results from fingerprick tests.
I think you meant to tag @Pipp not me@lovinglife - I test in a morning daily. I was very lacking in energy struggling to walk up hills etc before Jardiance.
That was main symptom just feeling ropey.
I found previously giving up sweet stuff better as I can’t stop but on this I’m finding sweet treats but still sensible like low sugar milk shakes etc.
It’s a tough journey I hope you are finding it ok too thank you for your comments
