I am in hospital, receiving antifungal treatment. I woke up to find nurse about to give me glucose drip followed by sodium lactate drip. My BG has not been low according to finger pricks, now 8.3 when I had a low carb meal about 4 hours ago. It showed low on my Libre sensor, which has obviously been faulty and now gives a premature replace senso6 instruction. I am on Metformin only, so as I understand, hypos not an issue.
A glucose drip seems to be wrong and a search shows sodium lactate a bad first choice hydration for diabetics. Anyone with experience of either or any idea why they might be prescribed?
