Was just going to post (having managed to actually get out of bed today) when I read Alice's post and so stole her wonderful header. This is the opposite story as a warning!

Was ill yesterday - couldn't eat all day and for some of the day before. Scores in 4s and 3s while I just slept.

This morning, fasting reading was 3.1. Hubby worried I was going to the dogs, but I couldn't face egg, cheese, meat etc - all the things I have enjoyed for weeks, even prawns or avocado. So had bright idea that 3.1 was so low I could test out the one thing I felt I could eat - oatiflakes. No, not a bowl. I'm not stupid! Just one tablespoonful with barely enough milk to see. One hour later 7.7, another hour later 7.1. Well that's ruined a 7-week record! Can't imagine what it would have been if it had been a whole bowlful or starting from the 4s.

Shalln't experiment again but I did start to feel better when I had eaten something. But that's another beta cell gone west... I'm probably an ounce lighter as well, which i could ill afford

Managing thanks, Alice but really can hardly eat for feeling I will throw up (though haven't) and to top it all, I have managed to pull a muscle or trapped a nerve (something like that!) in my shoulder and am in great pain. Will not be able to sleep on that side tonight, which bodes ill. Am thinking Dignitas sounds a good option right now! If I don't post again you'll know where I am.
Belated congrats on birthday anyway!

Dragongirl - if you do fetch up in Switzerland intent on ending it all - do make sure you have your fill of delicious choc first :?

Excellent advice, Romola! But I won't need to go abroad this time. Have had to call the deputising service and doc says it's been a virus which is now causing costochondritis most likely, and having read it up at the Mayo.com site, it sounds about right. My only problem will be keeping bg below 6 while not able to get on the exercise machine. Glad it's not a heart attack coming on cos I have worked so hard on this DB thing for weeks that it would be a shame to waste all that effort!

Pity about the kitkats though...

sounds like you are doing all the right things. ( except trips to Switzerland)
Hope you're better soon

I always increase my novorapid if I need to eat carbs etc, kinda worked out my own scale for it :). Works well for me tbh.

Hi Serial45, I agree - only I'm diet only for the time being! I don't have a cache of useful insulin to draw on. But if it comes to that one day, that's what i will do.

Hana - scores not good despite eating so little. But do you know what? I kinda don't care, I feel so rotten. Some people will know of Maslow's hierarchy of need, and at the bottom comes survival, food, shelter, warmth and safety - you can add your friendships, education, culture etc further up when the lowest level is sorted. So I guess that's where I am! At the bottom. And, of course, I'm bearing in mind that I've read on here that when one is unwell, bg rises. Fingers crossed that's true or I've lost the plot...
